The 28-year-old defender is currently out of contract at French side Strasbourg and therefore free to sign for any club on a free transfer.

Todd Boehly-owned Strasbourg want to keep hold of him and are attempting to convince him to pen a new deal.

In fact, Strasbourg have made a second contract offer to the player to keep him at the Stade de la Meinau.

However, the battle is fierce as, according to French outlet Foot Mercato, no fewer than five clubs, including Nottingham Forest, are looking to sign Djiku.

Two Turkish clubs, in the shape of Besiktas and Fenerbahce, are trying to convince Djiku to head to the Super Lig.

In addition to Strasbourg, Lille want to keep the defender in Ligue 1.

Nottingham Forest are also looking to snap Djiku up on a free transfer to add to Steve Cooper’s options at the back.

He featured in 31 of Strasbourg’s 38 league games as they finished 15th last season.
