The 22-year-old left-back is a product of Derby County’s academy and joined German side Werder Bremen last summer on a free transfer.

In the ongoing window, Buchanan is drawing interest from a host of Championship outfits, as he prepares to return to English football.

Ryan Manning left Swansea this summer to join Southampton and Michael Duff has identified Buchanan as the perfect replacement for the 27-year-old.

Birmingham City are also in the market for a left-back and the former Derby star is at the top of their transfer wish list.

Werder Bremen revealed today that they have given Buchanan permission to leave their training camp to complete a medical.

And it has been claimed that Buchanan is not having his medical with Swansea City.

Coventry boss Mark Robins is also an admirer of the 22-year-old’s talent and they want to add Buchanan to their squad.

Now all eyes will be on the Werder Bremen star, who has three years left on his current contract, to see where his next destination will be.
