Manchester United made a verbal offer of €60m on Tuesday, which was not close to Atalanta’s €70m asking price for the striker.

The Premier League giants have been in talks with Atalanta through intermediaries and more negotiations are expected in the coming days.

The Red Devils are expected to make a fresh offer soon to close the gap with Atalanta’s Hojlund valuation and try to compromise with the Italian club.

And according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, the Serie A outfit are now in a hurry to work out a deal to sell the Dane in the coming days.

They are already committed to investing around €30m for Almeria’s Toure, who is seen as Hojlund’s replacement.

Atalanta are hopeful that Manchester United’s next bid will be closer to their valuation, which could lead to an agreement between the clubs.

Manchester United have already agreed personal terms with the forward and he wants to join them despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has already requested the club complete the Dane’s sale by the end of July.

There are doubts that Hojlund will be involved in Atalanta’s friendly against Bournemouth on Saturday amidst speculation over his future.
