Alex Neil is desperate to bring in a defender to strengthen his backline, and he has Rangers man Davies on mind.

Davies has struggled to make a big impression since making a big money move to Ibrox from Liverpool.

Rangers are open to letting Davies leave this summer, but only if the right offer arrives.

The Stoke City boss worked with Davies during his Preston North End days and believes that the Potters could benefit from his experience.

Stoke City tabled a loan bid to Rangers for Davies, but it has been claimed that the Ibrox outfit rejected the offer.

It is said that Stoke City’s offer for the 28-year-old has failed to meet the expectations of Rangers.

With only hours remaining before the window closes, it remains to be seen whether Stoke will go in with an improved offer.
