Jurgen Klopp’s side have enjoyed a strong opening to the new Premier League campaign, going unbeaten and picking up ten points from their opening four games.

On the European scene, Europa League football is on the agenda for Liverpool and Aldridge feels that there are benefits from being in the competition.

He emphasised that Reds boss Klopp has an opportunity to test his young players against Liverpool’s Europa League opponents.

Aldridge also stressed that all of Liverpool’s opponents are within a short travelling time and as such, there are no marathon journeys to be made.

“We discovered our opponents for the Europa League group stage at the end of last week, and I was pleasantly surprised after seeing how it played out”, Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.

“With all due respect to the teams we will face, Liverpool should be finishing top of their group.

“The draw is favourable in the sense that you’re looking at chances for the likes of [Stefan] Bajcetic, [Curtis] Jones, [Harvey] Elliott, [Ben] Doak and [Jarell] Quansah.

“For them, this will be an invaluable experience.

“Another bonus is each of our opponents are only a couple of hours away and Jurgen will be delighted about that.

“There are a couple of 5:45 pm kick-offs, which will also help with recovery ahead of Premier League games.

“It couldn’t have worked out much better for us.”

Klopp’s men want to improve upon last term’s displays this season and they are desperate to get back in the fold of the Champions League again and winning the Europa League would do that.
