Todibo was one of the players Manchester United were keen to sign in the summer if Harry Maguire left the club.

The England centre-back decided against leaving and Manchester United did not have the funds to sign one more defender in the last transfer window.

The Frenchman has continued to remain on Manchester United’s radar but the player indicated that it would take some convincing for him to leave Nice any time in the near future.

He was aware of the interest from Manchester United but insisted that he was thinking hard about a move as he did not want to make a mistake.

Todibo wants to be completely sure about a project before jumping into the unknown as he is happy at Nice for the moment.

The centre-back admitted that he does not want to repeat the mistakes he committed early in his career.

Asked about the link with Manchester United, Todibo told French sports daily L’Equipe (print edition): “I experienced it differently from previous situations in my career.

“My thinking was much more in-depth and thoughtful. I didn’t want to make a mistake in my choice.

“I remained very calm.

“Reflection is much more important for me than when I started out. I am waiting to be presented with a complete project.

“What is expected of me? Why am I coming? You shouldn’t join a club just like that.

“I know what I have at Nice. Why go into the unknown?

“So, everything must be clear. I was 18 during my first transfer and the thinking was not thorough.”

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United rekindle their interest in Todibo in the January transfer window.
