Rangers will start their European adventure in the coming hours when they host Real Betis in the opening group game of their European League campaign at Ibrox.

The Glasgow giants have made a slow start to the season, which included a defeat to Celtic at home and are looking to build some momentum in the coming days and weeks.

Michael Beale carried out an overhaul of the squad in the summer and the new signings have taken some time to hit the ground running in Glasgow.

However, Ferguson insisted that the new signings have been at Rangers for long enough and they should now understand the demands placed upon them.

The Rangers legend stressed that the time is right for the players to show their true worth on the pitch.

The former Rangers captain said on the Go Radio Football Show: “There are no excuses now.

“They have been here long enough; they understand the expectations and the demands of playing for Rangers.

“And now they need to start producing the goods on the pitch.”

Ferguson has already insisted that Rangers must progress from Group C of the Europa League.
