Silva has struggled to establish himself in the Premier League since he completed a big-money move from FC Porto to Wolves in 2020.

He spent the entire last season on loan with Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven and made a combined 22-goal contributions in 51 appearances.

Gary O’Neil has started Silva only three times in the league this term and Edwards insisted that Silva should be getting more chances as there are not many strikers at the club.

Silva is only 21 and Edwards believes that Wolves are the perfect club with perfect facilities to support Silva’s potential.

“He’s still young and he’s at a club where I think he has the perfect environment to flourish”, Edwards wrote in his Express & Star column.

“Firstly, there’s not many strikers at the football club, so there’s an opportunity there.

“I’m sure in January they’ll hope to address that, but without an out-and-out number nine, Silva should get chances.”

Silva played only nine minutes of Premier League football in his last four matches and now it remains to be seen if he will be able to impress O’Neil with his performances in training sessions to earn more game time.
