Aston Villa’s interest in Cyril Ngonge is set to complicate Fiorentina’s pursuit of the player, it has been claimed in Italy.
Winger Ngonge has been catching the eye with his performances at Serie A side Hellas Verona this season.
Fiorentina are desperate to land a winger in the January transfer window as they look for a spark to push them forward in the second half of the campaign.
Ngonge is a key target, but would cost at least €10m and, according to Italian daily Tuttosport (via Fiorentina.it), interest from Aston Villa would complicate the pursuit.
Unai Emery’s men would likely be able to offer both Hellas Verona and Ngonge a more attractive financial package than Fiorentina could manage.
Fiorentina may have to move quickly and make a compelling case if they are to tempt Ngonge to join; Villa have scouted the winger.
The 23-year-old Belgian only joined Hellas Verona last summer and put pen to paper to a three-year deal in Italy.
Ngonge has so far chipped in with five goals in Serie A and struck in Hellas Verona’s last league game, a 2-0 win over Cagliari.
He counts Groningen, Waalwijk, Club Brugge and PSV Eindhoven amongst his former clubs.
