Real Betis are determined not to let Liverpool target Assane Diao leave in January for less than his €30m release clause and would ideally like to increase it.

The teenage winger has accumulated a host of admirers due to his performances in La Liga for Betis.

Brentford are hugely keen on Diao and could try to make a move to take him to the Premier League in the January transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are also fans of Diao, but Betis are determined that they will not let the winger leave for under his €30m release clause this January, according to Spanish outlet BeSoccer.

Diao’s contract does have a clause in it which means if any side offer at least €15m and the club do not accept it, they must improve his contract and keep the clause at €30m.

Betis have their own ideas though and are looking to negotiate a new deal with the winger, while upping his release clause to €50m.

Diao’s current contract at Betis is due to run through until the summer of 2027.

The winger has made eleven appearances in La Liga for the club so far this season, finding the back of the net on two occasions, against Granada and Valencia.
