Leicester City have joined Southampton in the hunt for Liverpool attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho, with the Foxes eyeing a loan, according to Sky Sports.

Carvalho is returning to England after a loan at Bundesliga side RB Leipzig did not work out.

Liverpool are not looking to keep him at Anfield for the second half of the campaign and will once again send him away on loan to try to secure him regular game time.

Russell Martin’s Southampton want to sign the midfielder, but they face competition, with Leicester also interested.

The Foxes currently sit top of the Championship standings and believe that Carvalho would be an excellent addition.

Liverpool are tipped to want guarantees over game time for the midfielder after his dismal time in Germany.

Carvalho himself will also need to be persuaded of the merits of any destination.

Southampton sit in third place in the Championship and, like Leicester, are gunning for an instant return to the Premier League.
