Chris Sutton has indicated Norwich City’s approach in their 1-1 draw with Southampton was not the right one.

The Canaries entertained the Saints in a New Year’s Day Championship clash at Carrow Road and fell behind with 70 minutes on the clock when Adam Armstrong struck for the visitors.

A share of the spoils was secured though through Josh Sargent with 12 minutes remaining and it ended 1-1.

The result means that Southampton are now unbeaten for their last 18 games and sit third, while Norwich sit in 13th spot.

Saints had a whopping 75 per cent possession and 21 shots to the hosts’ seven; Southampton also had 12 corners to Norwich’s one.

Former Norwich striker Sutton is in no mood to celebrate the draw and feels that parking the bus at Carrow Road is not the best approach.

“I’m not so sure Norwich City should be parking the bus at home to Southampton…”, Sutton wrote on X.

The draw ended a losing run for Norwich, who were beaten by West Brom and Millwall prior to facing Southampton.

The Canaries next host Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup.
