Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is working hard behind the scenes to convince the club to offer a new deal to Tottenham Hotspur target Conor Gallagher, according to London World.

Gallagher has been picked in every Premier League game this season bar one when he was suspended.

Pochettino is a big fan of the Chelsea academy product but there is speculation over his future at the club.

He has 18 months left on his contract and Chelsea are open to selling him to balance their books if they receive a fee in the region of £45m to £50m this month.

Tottenham are firm fans of Gallagher and believe he would be suited to Ange Postecoglou’s style.

However, the Chelsea boss believes Gallagher will be an integral part of the Chelsea team he is trying to build.

It has been claimed that the Argentinian is pushing the club behind the scenes to offer Gallagher a new contract.

The midfielder is also prepared to stay and fight for a place in the team at Stamford Bridge going forward.

However, Chelsea are keen to continue to spend in January and will need to sell players to stay within financial fair play limits.
