Former Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch is on the shortlist to become the new Birmingham City manager, according to talkSPORT.

Birmingham sacked Wayne Rooney after he oversaw only 15 games, taking over from John Eustace in October.

England Under-21 boss Lee Carsley and former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper have been linked with the role.

Ex-Leeds boss Marsch is also in the running though and if he takes the job then he would be in the same division as his former club.

Leeds appointed Marsch after parting ways with Marcelo Bielsa in February 2022 and the American tactician successfully kept them up in the Premier League.

However, following the season, after a series of disappointing results, the Leeds hierarchy sacked Marsch from his role.

Following his departure from Elland Road, Marsch has been linked with several jobs but has not joined any club.

Birmingham are currently in the 20th position in the league table and now it remains to be seen who the Blues hierarchy will appoint as the new boss.
