Birmingham City want to keep Ashley Cole and John O’Shea at the club, but their future at St. Andrew’s depends on the preference of the new incoming manager, according to Sky Sports News.

In October, the Birmingham City hierarchy appointed former Derby County boss Wayne Rooney as their manager.

And the 38-year-old tactician brought in Ashley Cole and John O’Shea to St. Andrew’s to join his coaching staff.

However, Rooney’s stay with Birmingham City was cut short early this week after failing to improve Blues disastrous run of form.

Now uncertainty looms over Cole and O’Shea regarding their future after Rooney’s dismissal.

It has been claimed that the Birmingham hierarchy are in favour of keeping them at the club but the ultimate decision will rest in the hands of the new incoming boss.

Cole and O’Shea are both assisting caretaker boss Steve Spooner to prepare Birmingham for their game against Hull City in the FA Cup at the weekend.

Several managers have been linked with the Birmingham job, but Tony Mowbray appears to be in pole position.
