Former Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom is still on Birmingham City’s radar, despite Blues holding talks with Tony Mowbray, according to the Daily Mail.

Birmingham have been on the lookout for a new manager since they sacked Wayne Rooney at the start of the week.

Blues are sitting 20th in the Championship table and are now looking for their third manager of the season as they bid to stop their poor form.

Former Sunderland boss Mowbray is to hold talks with Blues today, but that does not mean that he is sure to get the nod.

It has been claimed that Heckingbottom’s name is also high on their shortlist of managerial targets.

The 46-year-old boss is looking for a new job after being sacked by Sheffield United at the start of December.

Despite the Blades’ struggles in the Premier League this season, Heckingbottom is a proven commodity in the Championship.

He masterminded Sheffield United’s promotion from the Championship to the Premier League last season.
