Plymouth Argyle are holding talks with former England Under-20s boss Ian Foster, who has been working in Saudi Arabia, and are looking to confirm his appointment within the next 24 hours, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Argyle lost Steven Schumacher to Stoke City after the Potters sacked Alex Neil in December.

Plymouth have been linked with a host of candidates, but they now look to have settled on who they want to have in charge.

Foster, who has been working in Saudi Arabia with Steven Gerrard, is the man that Plymouth have picked and talks are ongoing.

Plymouth are currently seven points clear of the relegation zone and the club hierarchy want to appoint the right manager to keep them up in the Championship this season.

Foster is expected to get the nod and be confirmed in the role within the next 24 hours.

Neil Dewsnip has been appointed as the caretaker manager by the Plymouth hierarchy and he will lead Argyle against Sutton United on Saturday at the FA Cup.

All eyes will be on how Foster fares at Home Park if he is, as expected, confirmed as Plymouth’s new boss.
