Sunderland out on loan star Alex Bass is set to see out the rest of the season at AFC Wimbledon as the Black Cats will not recall the goalkeeper, according to the South London Press.

The shot-stopper was sent out on loan to the League Two side at the start of the season as the Championship giants aimed for him to get regular first-team action.

The goal has been fulfilled so far with the 25-year-old featuring in all of the 25 League Two games AFC Wimbledon have played so far.

It has been questioned whether Sunderland might look to recall Bass in this month’s window.

However, they are not going to do so and Bass is set to see out the remainder of the season at Plough Lane.

AFC Wimbledon even handed Bass the skipper’s armband in the match against Newport County back in September.

It now remains to be seen whether the goalkeeper’s contributions between the sticks are enough to earn AFC Wimbledon promotion from League Two at the end of the season.

AFC Wimbledon currently occupy the final playoff spot in the League Two standings.
