Grimsby Town are poised to snap up Hull City midfielder Harry Wood on a loan deal, according to the BBC.

David Artell wants to beef up his options at Grimsby during this month’s transfer window and has turned to Hull for a solution.

Leeds-born midfielder Wood is the man that Grimsby are now closing in on signing after they agreed a deal.

Midfielder Wood is set to make the move to the League Two side on a loan deal to run until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old will be looking to clock regular game time under Artell as he aims to kick on with his development amid the tough football of the fourth tier.

Grimsby currently sit in 20th spot in the League Two standings.

Artell’s side were crushed 6-1 at home by Walsall in their last league outing, but that has not put Wood off joining.

Next up for Grimsby is a visit from promotion chasers Notts County and it remains to be seen if Wood will be registered in time to be in the mix.
