Charlton Athletic are closing in on a deal to sign Plymouth Argyle centre-back Macaulay Gillesphey, according to the South London Press.

 

The 28-year-old defender has made just four appearances in the Championship and has firmly been on the fringes of the Plymouth squad.

 

The Championship side have been keen to listen to offers for him and the defender also wants to play more football going forward.

 

 

 

Charlton are in the market for defenders and they have come forward in the race to sign Gillesphey.

 

It has been claimed that the League One club are on the cusp of signing the centre-back from Plymouth.

 

 

Charlton are expected to seal the deal for Gillesphey to join the club today.

 

The parties involved are finalising the details of the agreement as Charlton close in on signing the 28-year-old.

 

 

Charlton are sitting 13th in League One and they are hopeful that Gillesphey will play a big role in getting them moving up the league table.
