Crystal Palace consider Manchester City’s demands for Kalvin Phillips to be too high at present, despite having asked about the midfielder, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Phillips has been widely expected to move on from Manchester City in this month’s transfer window as he seeks regular game time.

Newcastle United and Juventus have shown an interest, but neither have made substantial progress as Manchester City seek a substantial loan fee of around £5m.

Crystal Palace are also admirers of the England international and have put in an enquiry.

The financial package, including the loan fee, is considered to be too much by the Eagles at the moment though.

Unless Manchester City change their stance then it is unlikely Crystal Palace will pursue a deal.

The Eagles are keen to support experienced manager Roy Hodgson with signings in this month’s transfer window.

Palace currently sit in 14th spot in the Premier League standings, five points above the bottom three danger zone.
