There are doubts over whether Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson is good enough for Liverpool, amid the Reds keeping an eye on him, according to the Daily Mail.

Liverpool could lose the services of number 2 goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher in the summer transfer window.

Kelleher is keen to make sure he is playing regular football, which looks unlikely at Liverpool due to the presence of Alisson between the sticks.

Liverpool know they may have to replace Kelleher and have been keeping an eye on Sunderland shot-stopper Patterson.

The goalkeeper has caught the eye with his performances for the Black Cats in the Championship.

However, it is suggested that there are doubts over whether Patterson is of the required level to play for Liverpool in the Premier League.

Patterson has made 27 appearances in the Championship for Sunderland so far this season, keeping eight clean sheets in the process.

It is unclear how much Sunderland would want to let the goalkeeper leave if Liverpool do knock at the Stadium of Light door.
