Charlton Athletic have accepted a loan offer for Scott Fraser from Hearts after Motherwell could not agree terms, according to the Daily Record.

Addicks star Fraser wants to return to Scotland during this month’s transfer window due to personal reasons.

He has interest from several clubs in England, but has been clear about his Scotland desire and Charlton are not standing in his way.

The midfielder looked poised to head to Fir Park to join Motherwell, however it has emerged they could not agree to the Addicks’ wage demands.

Another Scottish Premiership side in the shape of Hearts have now stepped in and agreed a deal with Charlton.

The switch will see Fraser, 28, join Hearts on loan until the end of the season.

Charlton are now expected to give Fraser permission to travel to Edinburgh to put the finishing touches to his Tynecastle move.

Fraser has not played his football in Scotland since 2018, when he swapped Dundee United for Burton Albion.

Charlton went down to a 2-0 defeat at Burton Albion in League One on Saturday, increasing the pressure on boss Michael Appleton.
