Liverpool have made further enquiries into the possibility of signing Genk midfielder Bilal El Khannouss following glowing endorsements from club scouts.

A product of the Genk academy, the 19-year-old attacking midfielder has been catching the attention of several clubs across Europe.

He is already a key player in the Genk team and has scored three goals and provided five assists in 34 appearances across all competitions this season.

Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen are interested in getting their hands on him but it has been claimed that he is receiving special attention from Liverpool as well.

According to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, the Reds have put in more enquiries into the possibility of taking him to Anfield.

Liverpool scouts have been monitoring him for several months and have sent glowing reports back to their HQ on Merseyside.

Following recommendations from their scouts, the club have put in further probes to check the potential of signing El Khannouss.

Genk have already made it clear that if he is to leave the club it would have to be the biggest outgoing transfer in Belgian football.

He has a contract until 2027 and Genk are under no pressure to accept any lesser offers for the young midfielder.
