Atletico Madrid have tabled a bid with Celtic for the signature of midfielder Matt O’Riley in the ongoing window, according to Sky Sports Scotland.
Celtic have been battling suggestions that they could lose O’Riley in January due to interest from bigger clubs in Europe.
The 23-year-old has been hugely impressive this season, scoring ten times in 23 appearances across all competitions and has been heavily linked with a move away from Celtic Park.
Atletico Madrid are amongst the clubs who have been monitoring the midfielder and have now made their move for him.
It has been claimed that Celtic have received an offer from the Spanish giants for O’Riley for a transfer in the current window.
Atletico Madrid have proposed to sign the midfielder on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
The Spanish giants are offering a guaranteed fee for O’Riley through the obligatory purchase clause.
It remains to be seen whether the offer is good enough to convince Celtic to let O’Riley move to Spain.
