AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson has admitted that interest from Ipswich Town will be tempting for striker Ali Al-Hamadi, but insists he will see what happens in the coming days.

Ipswich are desperate to strengthen Kieran McKenna’s attacking options before the window closes as they feel it is key to their promotion hopes.

AFC Wimbledon’s Iraq international Al-Hamadi is firmly in Ipswich’s sights, but the Tractor Boys face having to pay over £2m to land him.

Dons boss Jackson admits that when a club like Ipswich come calling it is going to be something which gets a player’s attention.

And Jackson insists that the club will see how the situation develops in the coming days for someone he thinks is League Two’s best striker.

“He’s away with Iraq, so it’s a difficult one to navigate”, Jackson told the South London Press.

“When you have a player like that doing what he does, he’s going to attract interest. When a club like Ipswich come in, it’s obviously head-turning for the lad.

“It’s something we’re going to have to navigate in the coming days.

“I have always wanted to keep him – he’s the best striker in the league.

“But when you have the best striker in the league, clubs who can offer you life-changing money come in for you.

“That changes the landscape completely where the lad is concerned.”

The clock is ticking for Ipswich to work out a deal for Al-Hamadi, but losing the striker would be a bitter blow for AFC Wimbledon.
