Sam Johnstone wants to stay at Crystal Palace and fight for a place in the team despite interest from Nottingham Forest, according to Sky Sports News.

Forest are in the market for a goalkeeper and are looking to bring in one before the transfer window closes on Thursday night.

A move for Jack Butland was strongly rebuffed by Rangers and Nottingham Forest are still looking for solutions.

Johnstone is a player the Midlands club are considering signing but for the moment, the goalkeeper is not sold on the move.

It has been claimed that the former Manchester United academy product wants to continue at Crystal Palace beyond the end of the window.

He is intending to stay at Selhurst Park and fight to get his place back in the starting eleven in the latter half of the season.

Johnstone suffered a calf injury against Liverpool last month and has not played a Premier League game since.

Dean Henderson has been preferred between the sticks by Roy Hodgson despite Johnstone’s return to fitness.

The Crystal Palace goalkeeper also remains determined to make the England squad for the European Championship in the summer.
