Plymouth Argyle have looked at a potential deal for Orlando City forward Duncan McGuire, who is also a target for Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers, according to The Athletic.

Blackburn Rovers have been the favourites to sign the player having managed to agree a fee with the player’s MLS club Orlando City.

McGuire is soon expected to be put through his medical checks by Blackburn despite all aspects of the move not being agreed.

If a move to Blackburn breaks down again then McGuire could still have other options.

Plymouth have looked into a possible deal for McGuire as they are admirers of the MLS attacker.

Relegation battlers Sheffield Wednesday have not left the race though, and would be willing to jump in if they get an opportunity.

McGuire made his debut for the United States earlier this year and is expected to be in their Olympic Games squad.

It now remains to be seen who has the last laugh in the capture of the 22-year-old.
