Steven Thompson has claimed that Fabio Silva has already shown that he is going to be a great addition to the Rangers team this season.

Silva joined Rangers on loan from Wolves at the start of the January transfer window and scored his first goal in their 3-0 win over Livingston last weekend.

The forward came on from the bench in the second half in Rangers’ 2-1 win over Aberdeen at Ibrox on Tuesday night.

Thompson insisted that he was left impressed by the striker’s cameo against the Dons in a big game for Rangers.

The former Rangers star was pleased to see the strength and skill Silva showed on the ball in the 33 minutes he was on the pitch and feels there are already signs that he is going to be a nice addition to the team this season.

Thompson said on BBC Radio Scotland: “I was impressed with Silva when he came on.

“He showed a lot of really nice touches, his close control was excellent and a lot of upper body strength.

“I think he is going to be a good addition to the Rangers team, there is no doubt about it.”

It remains to be seen whether Silva gets to start when Rangers host Ayr in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup on Saturday.
