Barcelona have set a limit for the fee they are prepared to pay for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, it has been claimed in Catalunya.
Onana has been hugely impressive in the Premier League with Everton and several top sides are interested in snaring him away from Goodison Park.
Arsenal and Newcastle United tried to sign him in the winter transfer window but were hamstrung by the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
Barcelona have been keeping tabs on him for several months and it has been claimed sporting director Deco is keen to take him to the Nou Camp.
According to Catalan daily Sport, the former midfielder has already been in contact with related parties to assess the possibility of signing the Belgian.
However, a key factor that could limit Barcelona in their pursuit of Onana is the money Everton want from his sale.
The Toffees are claimed to be asking for somewhere around €60m before they could sanction his departure.
Barcelona do not have the financial latitude to spend such figures on one player at the moment.
The club would have to sell several players before they could spend such sums on Onana in the summer.
Deco has set a €40m limit on the pursuit of the Belgian and is depending on the player to push for a move to the Nou Camp.
Everton are unlikely to agree to sell the midfielder for such a figure when there are other clubs interested in him.
