Rangers boss Philippe Clement feels it is clear to see why he signed Oscar Cortes after the winger starred in the Gers’ 2-0 Scottish Cup win over Ayr United.
Cortes provided the assist for Rangers’ first goal in the clash at Ibrox, scored by Borna Barisic.
The Colombian winger also hit the post and put in a performance which caught the eye, looking a big threat to Ayr whenever he was in possession.
Clement gave Cortes just about an hour in the cup tie before replacing him and thinks it was enough to show just why he wanted to sign the winger.
“We saw why we brought him here”, Clement told BBC Scotland.
“It’s clear from the first training session that he can help us.”
The Gers boss thinks in terms of the cup tie, his side had complete control of the game and on another day could have won by a heavier scoreline.
“We had full control for the 90 minutes. On a lucky day, we score four, five, six.
“It was a mature performance from the team and the most positive thing was we could give minutes to the players who have just come in and players who have been injured.”
Rangers must now prepare for a return to Scottish Premiership duty with Ross County set to visit in midweek and all eyes will be on whether Cortes is handed another start.
