Gordon Dalziel has insisted that Rangers would have had a better chance of winning silverware had they signed a player such as Bojan Miovski or Lawrence Shankland in the January transfer window.
Rangers will move to the summit of the Scottish Premiership standings tonight if they beat Ross County by a three-goal margin at Ibrox.
The Glasgow giants did add new faces to their squad in the winter window but many feel they should have signed a more proven goalscorer.
Dalziel insisted that Rangers can still go on and do well for the rest of the season and they have the defensive strength to really push for trophies in the latter half of the campaign.
However, the former Rangers star feels that signing a proven striker like Miovski or Shankland would have given them a better chance of winning a trophy in the coming months.
Dalziel said on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard: “I am not saying for one minute that Rangers can’t go on win the league, the Scottish Cup or win in Europe.
“They have got good quality players and the big plus for them, especially away from home since Clement has come in, is defensively they have been solid.
“That’s where you build your team from, the back and let your midfielders, creative players and the front men do their business and win their games.
“But I would say if they had brought, the two names we keep saying Miovski and Shankland, that sort of player, I think we would have been a lot more confident about Rangers going and achieving something.”
Rangers will hope that they have enough to push on and end Celtic’s dominance in Scotland this season.
