Gordon Dalziel has insisted that Rangers would be scoring a lot more goals if they had a natural number 9 in their team.

Rangers had an astonishing 43 shots in their 3-1 win over Ross County at Ibrox on Wednesday night.

Cyriel Dessers scored twice but many believe that he could have scored a lot more given the chances Rangers kept on creating throughout the 90 minutes.

Dalziel stressed that Rangers can still win the league and it might not be the deciding factor at the end of the season but he feels that they could have done with a number 9.

The former Rangers star insisted that Philippe Clement’s team would have scored a lot more goals with the chances they are creating if they had a natural number 9 in the side.

Dalziel said on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard: “I think if they had a natural number 9 with the way they are playing and the chances they are creating, I think they would be scoring a lot more goals.

“It might not get to that at the end of the season.

“I am not saying without the number 9, they can’t win the league.

“But if they went out and got a box player, then the Rangers fans would be saying we have got a real stick on here.”

Rangers will be travelling to McDiarmid Park on Sunday to take on St. Johnstone in a Scottish Premiership clash.
