Former Scotland defender Mark Wilson has stressed that the Rangers players now have to prove that they can deal with the pressure of keeping up with Celtic in the title race.
Rangers went level on points with Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership standings on Wednesday night following their win over Ross County at Ibrox.
Celtic are still at the top as they have scored more goals, but there is now nothing separating the two Glasgow giants at the summit of the Scottish Premiership standings.
Wilson insisted that players who end up playing for either Celtic or Rangers are not only talented but also need to deal with the pressure of playing in the Glasgow goldfish bowl.
The former Bhoy conceded that the Rangers players have shown that they can compete with Celtic but now they need to show that they can handle the pressure of going for the title.
Wilson said on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard: “They don’t only get recruited because of their talent but how they deal with pressure situations.
“That’s why they end up at Celtic and Rangers as well, it’s a big part of their recruitment.
“It is up to the Rangers players now to deal with the pressure.
“They have shown that they are good enough to go neck and neck with Celtic but can they deal with the pressure?”
Rangers have a tough away trip to McDiarmid Park to take on St. Johnstone on Sunday.
