Lee McCulloch has insisted that the difference in confidence in Rangers from the start of the season to now is down to the work Philippe Clement has carried out since taking charge of the club.

Rangers moved two points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership standings on Sunday following their 3-0 win at St. Johnstone.

The current Rangers side is a far cry from the team that Michale Beale left behind when he left in October and Clement was given the job of turning things around at Ibrox.

McCulloch stressed that the Belgian looked the part the moment he came to Rangers as he always had the experience and aura of being a tried and tested manager.

He pointed out that the Rangers players looked down and out at the start of the season while now they are absolutely bouncing around and looking like enjoying their football.

The former Rangers captain insisted that the difference in confidence is completely down to Clement’s management.

McCulloch said on BBC Radio Scotland: “The big difference and swing was when Philippe Clement came in.

“He has won leagues before, he has got experience, he has got an aura about him, he is a disciplinarian and he deserves enormous credit.

“The players at the start of the season were really short of confidence and in my opinion, found it difficult to play in a full Ibrox as well.

“Now they are bouncing out of the tunnel, really enjoying, wanting the ball, craving the ball and all of it is down to the manager.

“And that’s why for me, he deserves an immense amount of credit.”

Rangers will now look to consolidate their position at the top of the league table ahead of the split.
