Former top flight manager Jim Duffy has told Rangers that they have to put their foot on the accelerator at this time of the season like Manchester City do.
Rangers are top of the Scottish Premiership table and they have a two point lead over their city rivals Celtic.
The Gers have some difficult matches coming up as they are set to face in-form Hearts and Kilmarnock in back-to-back fixtures.
Duffy pointed out that big teams like Manchester City always step up during the business end of the season to clinch the league title.
And he thinks that Rangers have to now act like a big team and accelerate their good form to go on a run to seal the Scottish Premiership title this season.
“In the last third of the season, that is when you see all the big teams, how many teams have we heard of in recent days, you talk about Manchester City always peak at this time”, Duffy said on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.
“We always say it, it’s just game momentum and they put the foot hard down to the accelerator and push hard to the title.
“That is what the big teams do and if Rangers have got this momentum, this belief [they will need to as well].”
Rangers are undefeated since their last defeat at the hands of Celtic in December and it remains to be seen whether they will be able to continue their winning run against Hearts this weekend.
