Sevilla sporting director Victor Orta has made a firm decision on not taking up the option on Leicester City loanee Boubakary Soumare.

The 25-year-old midfielder joined Sevilla on loan from Leicester City last summer and has been a key player for the club.

The Spanish club have an option to make the move permanent and the club were recently considering triggering the option on him.

However, there has been a change of plans as Sevilla are planning the next window with a limited transfer budget.

And according to Seville-based Spanish daily Estadio Deportivo, Orta has made the decision to not try and sign the midfielder on a permanent deal.

The Sevilla sporting director has communicated his decision to the rest of the club’s technical team.

Orta does not believe Sevilla will have the financial muscle to sign Soumare in the summer transfer window.

The club have other priorities in the market and are keen to cut their cloth accordingly.

For the moment, it seems likely that Soumare will be back at Leicester at the end of the season.

The Foxes could still look to sell him as they battle financial fair play worries.
