Celtic’s move for Lausanne-Sport midfielder Alvyn Sanches looks unlikely, though they are continuing to search for another midfielder, according to Sky Sports News.

The Bhoys have focused all their attention on signing Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels, who they see as a direct replacement for Matt O’Riley.

In fact, a total agreement has been reached with the German club and the player is set to fly to Glasgow to undergo his medical on Friday.

The Bhoys though do not want Engels to be the only midfielder passing through the Celtic Park door.

They want a second body and have shortlisted Lausanne-Sport midfielder Sanchez, a player they have had on their radar for some time.

A deal for Sanches though looks unlikely at this stage.

With just about 24 hours remaining before the transfer window closes, it remains to be seen who they turn to in their attempt to sign a second midfielder.

They had targeted a move for Los Angeles FC player Mateusz Bogusz but failed to make progress.
