Former top-flight attacker Pat Nevin feels that Aston Villa need not fear any side they will meet in the Champions League this season.

The Villa Park outfit have been on the rise since Unai Emery took charge back in October of 2022.

The Birmingham outfit finished fourth in the Premier League, which saw them first time qualify for the Champions League and they won their first match of the competition 3-0 against Young Boys on Tuesday night.

Nevin feels that Emi Buendia and Jhon Duran can build a forward partnership just like Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins did under Emery.

The former Premier League star reiterated that the Viilans have a capable team now and they have nobody to fear.

“Buendia is coming back – he’s a 10 – but is another man who can play up alongside the striker. Duran absolutely can do that job as well”, Nevin said on BBC Radio 5 live about the Villans.

“The two that started as well, Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers – you can put that system in place and the manager can feel comfortable about it.

“They needn’t fear anyone.”

Aston Villa have only dropped points against Arsenal so far in the league and they will be looking to move higher up the table when they face 18th-placed Wolves this Saturday.
