Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris has hailed Leeds United star man Illan Meslier before the Black Cats face the Whites.
The French shot-stopper has been on the books of the Elland Road outfit since 2020 and has become their clear number 1 over the years.
He came through the youth academy of French club Lorient where he played for three years under Le Bris in the French outfit’s set-up.
Le Bris has insisted that he is aware of Leeds being one of the promotion favourites this season and he recognised their strength as well.
The Sunderland boss tipped his hat to 24-year-old Leeds shot-stopper Meslier and described him as a ‘very good’ goalkeeper.
“We know that this [Leeds] is a strong team, sized for promotion I think”, Le Bris explained in a press conference.
“[They come] with many strengths, in position, out of position, counter attacks, well managed.
“[They have] a good goalkeeper [Meslier], a very good goalkeeper, I know this.
“So, it will be a good challenge for us.”
Meslier has conceded only five goals in his side’s first eight league matches but the Whites have a tough test on Friday night at the Stadium of Light against top-of-the-table Sunderland.
