Former top flight striker Gordon Dalziel has taken aim at Celtic’s centre-back pairing, amid the Bhoys drawing 2-2 with Aberdeen.
Celtic were looking to make a statement in the Scottish Premiership title race by ending Aberdeen’s unbeaten run at Celtic Park.
The Bhoys eased to a 2-0 advantage by half-time with goals from Reo Hatate and Kyogo Furuhashi arriving in a three minute blitz between the 24th and 27th minutes.
Aberdeen got some hope just five minutes into the second half when Ester Sokler scored, while the Dons were in dreamland when Graeme Shinnie levelled on the hour mark.
After a frantic finish with ten minutes of added on time it ended 2-2 at Celtic Park.
Brendan Rodgers picked Auston Trusty and Liam Scales as his centre-back pairing and during the course of the game Dalziel took aim at them.
He believes when it comes to centre-backs complimenting each other, the pair are wide of the mark.
“I don’t think the two centre-halves compliment each other”, Dalziel said on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard.
It had been thought that Rodgers could put Cameron Carter-Vickers into the side as the centre-back is available again.
All eyes will now be on whether Rodgers decides to do just that when Celtic play Atalanta in the Champions League next week.
