Barcelona have expressed there displeasure in Yaya Toure’s agent’s attempts to bully the club into giving the player more time on the pitch. The Ivory Coast native has had limited opportunities so far this season, with Seydou Keita seemingly preferred by manager Pep Guardiola. This provoked Dimitri Seluk, Toure’s agent, to state that the biggest clubs in the world would be willing to snap up his client if Barcelona weren’t interested.

Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain however, has assured Toure of his significance in the squad, and has voiced his irritation at the player’s agent, who he feels has no right mingling in such business.

I have contacted the agent and our position is clear," Begiristain told the Spanish media. "The most important thing is Toure. I am satisfied with his performances and the dialogue between coach and player. They must be the protagonists. In football, interviews are normal for the players, but it is unusual to hear interviews with the agents. He understood everything."
