According to The Times, Tottenham striker Robbie Keane is being linked with a loan move to Scottish giants Celtic in January. Manager Tony Mowbray is eager to add quality to his squad in the coming transfer window, and the Irish forward has been earmarked as a possible arrival.

Keane has an affinity with Celtic and has been seen frequenting Old Firm and European games with his Ireland team-mates, Shay Given and Damien Duff. He has had trouble holding down a regular spot in Spurs’ first-team, with Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch in impressive form so far. It is understood the 29-year-old may opt for a temporary move to sort out his future.

The prospected tranfer will depend largely however, on billionaire and Celtic chief shareholder Dermot Desmond, who will need to shell out a significant amount to shoulder Keane’s wages. With Celtic’s highest paid player making £25,000 a week, it is a far cry from the Tottenham star’s estimated £80,000 a week wages.
