According to Portuguese daily A Bola, Porto captain Bruno Alves is the latest to be tipped to replace Real Madrid’s long-term injury victim Pepe. The 28 year-old has been a rock in central defence for his club and country and is highly regarded by the Spanish giants. Such is their interest in the Portuguese defender, that they are willing to meet Porto’s €30M valuation to acquire his services.

There are possible stumbling blocks to the deal pushing through however, with Alves’ being cup tied in the Champions League, the major factor holding back Los Blancos.

Alves is well known for his tough tackling style, and would be an ideal addition to complement Real Madrid’s abundance of attacking maestros.
