Arsenal have secured the contract extension of midfielder Abou Diaby. The 23-year-old has signed a long-term deal to continue his development under Arsene Wenger, having initially signed in 2008 until 2012.

The French boss himself stated, "Abou has a huge presence on the pitch and the potential to be an influential part of Arsenal for many years."

Diaby himself was delighted with the deal and said that it underlined his "long-term commitment to Arsenal". He also looked forward to a bright future with the Premier League side. "It’s [the new contract] a great thing for me and hopefully there will be some good years ahead for me here."
