Tottenham’s disgruntled high-profile player David Bentley is eyeing a loan move to Atletico Madrid to end his nightmare at White Hart Lane according to the Daily Mirror. The 25-year-old, who was purchased for £15M from Blackburn Rovers in 2008, did not live up to the reputation that preceded him upon his arrival.

Bentley has made only six appearances for his club this season, a hugely disappointing record for a player once tipped to be the successor of David Beckham in the England squad.

The former Arsenal player was a huge success at Blackburn Rovers, where he was used by manager Mark Hughes as the focal point in attack. Such was his prominence at the club that he was named player of the season in the 2006/07 campaign. Bentley is now eyeing a move to the Spanish capital to resurrect such form.
