Everton youngsters Dan Gosling and Jack Rodwell have returned to full training, having recovered from similar hamstring injuries sustained in Europa League matches in December. The two have helped each other throughout rehabilitation, and could be in contention for Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Birmingham City.

The two teenagers will be hoping to return in the competition that brought them much praise, after both had impressive performances to help Liverpool’s exit from the FA Cup last season. Gosling was particularly vital in the win, scoring the dramatic stoppage time goal that dumped their Merseyside rivals out of the tournament.

The 19-year-old Gosling said in the Liverpool Echo, “I’ll see how it is. If we’re in with a shout for the squad on Saturday then so be it. But if not, then the following week I’ll just try and push on and see where it takes us.
