After a widely reported potential move to Stoke fell through, David James may yet still join the Potters before the transfer window closes. Despite most sources claiming a deal had already been agreed last week, disputes over the player’s wages resulted in the 39-year-old remaining with cash-strapped Portsmouth.
ESPN Soccernet believes the two clubs are in negotiations again, after a pompey insider told them, “Talks have resumed with Stoke over James, so who knows what might happen there?"
James becomes a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the season, and Portsmouth are looking to cash in on the goalkeeper and free themselves of his £2 million a year wages before the transfer window closes on the 2nd of February.
