With reports circulating that Benni McCarthy’s departure from Blackburn was imminent, France Football claims the disgruntled striker is set to join West Ham for €2.7M. The 32-year-old has made just 16 appearances for Sam Allardyce’s side this campaign, and is determined to cement his place in the South Africa squad by acquiring regular first-team action.

West Ham are battling to remain in the Premier League, hovering precariously two places above third-from-bottom Hull City, only on goal difference. Having won only two of their last ten games, Gianfranco Zola is keen to add to the Hammers’ firepower.

The former Porto player is determined to return to the form that he displayed in his first season in the Premier League, when he scored 24 goals in 50 appearances, and he believes securing first-team football is the initial step in achieving that.
