Manchester United youngster Danny Welbeck has sealed a loan move to Preston North End until the end of the season. The 19-year-old Red Devils’ youth academy product has made a successful jump into the first-team and has already made 11 appearances for the Premier League champions in this campaign.

Welbeck’s move to Preston represents new manager Darren Ferguson’s first signing since he took over earlier in the month. The 37-year-old, son of United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, will be hoping the arrival of the youngster will propel the club closer to the ten-point gap that separates them from a playoff spot.

With the emergence of new-signing Mame Biram Diouf in the United set-up, Welbeck’s presence to provide emergency cover is no longer a necessity. His move to Preston should prove to be a great venue to gather experience and hold down a regular first-team spot.
